Two men were at my house today

Two men were at my house today
They were greeted by two barking dogs
relentlessly noisy throughout the whole ordeal.
They saw the big white facade of our house,
And the broken tiles in the garage,
the bathtub around the corner,
the hole in the wall where a
makeshift pipe takes away the
water we used to wash yesterday's
dishes.
They went in and were attacked by the smell of urine and waste
though said nothing, professional as they were,
up the stairs with the broken floorboards,
through the landing with the dried dog piss,
to the bedroom that probably smelled even worse.
They saw the clothes, the bags, the
spare microwave, the three beds and one side table.
They asked, why don't you just sell all this stuff?
How long has all this been here?
Not long, unfortunately.
Not long at all.
They disassembled the broken bed
and revealed the rotten floorboards, the mottled
wall behind the king-sized head board.
Then they took it away.
Just the bed, unfortunately,
They left everything else as it were,
including me, hugging my arms
with an apologetic smile, saying
I'm sorry it came to this. I don't
know how it happened.
