Dear elementary school classmate

In catholic school, all girls,
No matter how you sexualize yourself
I will always see you lanky, white modest uniform a size too big,
With the hemline an inch above your knees, which was forbidden,
with knee high socks
rolled down sometimes
all the way to your Mary janes
I see your solemn smile while talking about getting your period,
a grade before everyone else did,
With your turquoise braces and your
hair flipped to high heaven,
Talking about how you got a longboard for
christmas

You’re a few inches taller now, you were already tall then,
And men must be telling you now how much
theyd love to be all over you, how your legs are so long
And now you pose with them in mind.
They see you, all curces and long lines,

I see you brushing your hair with a pink plastic hairbrush.
